Have you been walking this summer? Are you getting out and being active? Or are you still sitting on the couch? Well, let me tell you a few of the benefits to keeping your body moving.
I hope this doesn't look like you after an activity! Barely able to stand, so out of breath, maybe having chest pain!?
I am all for people being physically active, but sometimes, if you haven't prepared your body, taking on that level of physical exertion can be deadly. Do you know what I mean?
Sudden Cardiac Arrest: Heart events that are brought on by strenuous exercise and dramatic bursts of activity and excitement. Ask your self these questions:
- Are you a couch potato?
- Do you have a sedentary job?
- Are you overweight?
- Do you have risk factors for heart disease?
- Is your body prepared to do this physical activity?

To help protect yourself from heart dangers, take a look at the following list:
- Learn CPR
- Pre-exercise medical physical
- Start gradual, prepare your body
- Know your cardiovascular risk
- Daily walking routine or other exercise regimen
- Listen to your body, know your limitations, keep hydrated
- Carry a means to communicate: cell phone or radio
