May is American Stroke Month
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States.
Stroke is a Medical Emergency. Time lost will equal brain lost.
Don't Delay, Call 911 Immediately!
Know the symptoms of stroke:
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
- Sudden severe headache with no known cause
Did you know that:
- 700,000 Americans suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year
- Every 45 seconds someone in the United States has a stroke
- Every 3 to 4 minutes someone dies of a stroke
- Women account for more than 6 in 10 stroke fatalities
- More women than men die from stroke
