New Emergency Department at Bellin
The new Emergency Services Pavilion at Bellin Health was designed to fully support the modern technology of a quality health care facility. One piece of technology is its crown jewel. CT Scanner is One of a Kind in Wisconsin
Bellin’s Emergency Services Pavilion’s state-of-the-art Toshiba Aquilion ONE 320-slice CT scanner is the first and only 320-slice CT scanner in the state. It is scheduled for installation in the new facility on Monday.
The 320-slice CT scanner lets physicians easily view crucial information on blood flow and heart, brain and joint function as well as examine additional data from other parts of the body without needing additional diagnostic tests.
The Aquilion ONE provides information in real-time three-dimensional clarity. The technology means a CT medical exam can be completed in minutes and with less radiation and contrast dose to the patient. The state-of-the-art technology also means an entire human organ such as the heart, brain or pancreas can be imaged in a single rotation.
Before this, it would take roughly seven to 10 rotations to image a human heart, and about seven rotations for the brain.
Since its launch in November 2007, Aquilion ONE systems have been installed in several countries, including Japan, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, the United States, Canada and Singapore.
Bellin’s remodeled Emergency Services Pavilion gives the facility more space and the ability to offer faster service for the estimated 30,000 patients its department sees annually. The newer facility also aids Bellin’s continued efforts to maintain its tradition of delivering high-quality, affordable care to patients.
