Question:
If someone starts with high cholesterol and they work on it and bring it down drastically, what happens to the cholesterol that was there? Does it dissolve, does it pass through normal waste system, what happens to it??
Answer:
If the person has high cholesterol, what we are measuring is the amount floating through the bloodstream. So if they are able to bring their numbers down to normal, they have decreased the cholesterol content in their bloodstream; there is just not as much floating around. So yes, exercise, decreasing the cholesterol, saturated fat and trans fat in the diet have all helped to reduce what is going into the system while the body continues to filter it out.
