heart surgery or

heart surgery or angioplasty, which is better

It is not a matter of which

It is not a matter of which is better, heart surgery or angioplasty, it is a matter of what do you need to have done. Angioplasty and stenting are done for coronary or peripheral arteries that have blockage and they work great! They stop heart attacks, prevent heart attacks and save lives. Heart surgery is used for coronary arteries (and valves too) that have blockage, there may be multiple lesions to bypass or they may have been unable to do angioplasty. Heart surgery is great too! It really depends on what your symptoms are, where the blockages are and how severe the blockages are. Lots of individual things to consider when making the choice. Feel free to tell me your specifics if you like, either in comments (everyone can read) or privately by clicking on the Ask Kelly icon.
