Bellin Run Kickoffs: Corporate Challenge/Kids for Running Programs
“Biggest Loser: Couples” celebrities Kristin Steede and Cathy Skell will be the guest speakers during kickoff events for the Bellin Run Corporate Challenge and the Kids for Running program.
The 34th annual Bellin Run will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 12. The 10K (6.2-mile) race winds through the streets of Green Bay and the nearby village of Allouez. A record-breaking 16,746 people registered for the race in 2009.
Online Registration Opens
Registration for the 34th annual Bellin Run is underway. Runners, walkers and wheelchair participants can register starting today by visiting bellinrun.com.
Last year, the majority of participants chose to register online for the Bellin Run, for the convenience and because it’s $3 cheaper. There’s no price increase this year, so it’s $17 if you register online by May 31.
Of course, if you’re a pen and paper person, we’ll have that option too. The cost will be $20 through May 31. (After May 31, there’s a price bump for both online and hard copy forms, and then another increase if you wait until race weekend.)
We’re working on the printable registration form and the website content. It should be ready in a week.
All registrants receive an official 2010-style Bellin Run T-shirt. You have the option to upgrade to a technical T-shirt during the registration process for an additional $10.
This is why I run!
It's Race Day, can you feel the excitement? I love this sense of nervous anticipation, like a race horse stuck in the gates, ready to take off! I love to look into the eyes of other runners, whether you are the newbie, or the legend, your eyes are focused on the same goal. There is a different energy in the air, something you only feel on race day. Soak it in!!
Race Village
Once again I would like to take you behind the scenes with the race crew. Astor Park is looking incredible, thanks to the hard work of many individuals who have been putting in a few hours to transform this city park into the Bellin Run Race Village...

We are now approx 6 days out from the Bellin 10K Run, are you ready? If you took more than a second to answer this with a definite YES, then you better read on. Here are a few race week tips to ensure that you will run a better Bellin.

When I think of all the duties and responsibilities that come along with all of these titles, I can now understand why she called me to ask if organic red pepper cheetos were an appropriate thing to eat prior to a run... We are about a week out from the race and Linda hasn't stopped running since February!

It takes a village...
The Bellin Run is now the 4th largest timed 10K runnning event in the nation. If you are a competitor you can say we are the BIGGEST 10K running event (per capita) in the nation based on the size of the Green Bay community. We have seen this event grow from a few hundred participants, to over 15, 000 in 2008. This year registration numbers are up, and if projections are correct we will see record numbers of racers again in 2009! Green Bay you rock, without the support of the community this event would not be possible.
Eating Well to Run a Better Bellin
Are you a long time runner aiming to better your time, a runner who simply wants to learn more about optimal nutrition, a runner who is participating in this years run as a means to get in shape and lose weight, or are you a new runner challenging yourself to complete a 10k as a personal accomplishment?
(Or if you were the person that said they run just for the cookies at the end, read on!)
